A PROPERTY developer is appealing against a decision by Cotswold District Council to reject plans to build 20 retirement apartments in Bourton-on-the-Water.
McCarthy & Stone Retirement Lifestyles Limited wishes to build the apartments which will include communal facilities, car parking and landscaping on the site of the former Pulhams Coaches station in Station Road.
But earlier this year the council said it could not be approved because it said the development would be a dominant and unsympathetic to the surrounding area and that the development has not made adequate provision for affordable housing.
An appeal hearing which will be determined by an inspector from the government's planning inspector will take place at Cotswold District Council's offices in Cirencester on August 19
