A NEW planter has been placed at one of the popular and well-used entrances to Cirencester, welcoming visitors and residents to the town.
The new colourful item, filled with flowers, has been placed on the Tetbury Road entrance, near Sheep Street, to mark the long-standing partnership between the Rotary Club of Cirencester, the town council and local schools and businesses.
For many years the Rotary Club has been looking for a way to mark this partnership and has worked with the council to provide the planter, based on the traffic island next to the Old Station car park.
The planter, which serves to welcome people to the town, has been filled and will be maintained by the Phoenix Gardeners who look after plants in the town.
At a recent presentation, Rotary Club president Bob Allison said: "Thank you to the town council for giving us the opportunity to place the welcome sign in the town and also thank you to the Phoenix Gardeners for your work."
Deputy mayor Nigel Robbins thanked the Rotary Club for their help with the planter. He added: "I look forward to seeing more flowers in the town in future."
