Cirencester Sixth Form College is holding its second Festival of Arts, this week.

The festival is a celebration of some very exciting and inspiring end of year work from a group of highly talented students.

Throughout the week, the college will be showcasing art from a host of different media across Cirencester. And this year the college has linked up with the Cirencester Hare Festival’s Arts Extravaganza.

The Wet Paint Gallery in London Road are hosting a pop-up art gallery, where  artwork created by the students is on show. There will be a chance to chat with them and college staff about their work.

The Abbey Grounds will be the venue for a spot of ‘yarn bombing’, staff and students will be tree wrapping colourful knitted and crocheted textiles, to make some really eye-catching installations.

Further 3D designs can be found around the town along with a selection of Music, Performance and Dance.

For the second year running Bishops Walk will be hosing an exhibition of students’ artwork throughout the week. ‘Acanthus’ the Hare, who has been painted by students, will be greeting visitors to Cirencester Parish Church as part of the Hare Festival.

In addition, at 7pm on Wednesday, the Sundial Theatre will be hosing a film premier of a selection of short films, that have been produced by the College’s Media Students.

On June 26, there will be a book launch at the New Brewery Arts Café from 7pm to-9pm. Ciren Shorts is a collection of short stories, poems and articles, that have been compiled by students.

Throughout the evening, speakers will read extracts from the book and copies of the collection will be available for visitors to take away.

“We are really excited about this second Festival of Arts as we have so many inspiring works to display”, said head of faculty, Matt Reynolds, “from music, film, dance and drama to graphic design, photography, fine art and a second book of short stories.

There’s a wealth of talented students here, inspired and driven by exceptional teachers. The results are genuinely outstanding and we hope the community will enjoy them.”
