ELDERY residents at Paternoster House in Cirencester have said a huge thank you to staff at the local Waitrose branch for volunteering to give the home's tired garden furniture a well needed makeover.

Members of the local Waitrose Community Group, part of the John Lewis Partnership, invited charities and non-profitable organisations in the town to a meeting to see how their volunteers could help groups in Cirencester.

"We went along to the meeting and said we would love for them to come here," said Paternoster House general manager Joy Warren. "But because everyone who comes to do work in the home has to be DBS checked, we thought outside might be better.

"It was a gorgeous day when they came. Our garden furniture was in desperate need for an update and they painted it all. Our gardener and handyman has so much work to do and he hadn't got round to it yet.

"It's all spic and span now for summer."

The home's residents can now use the sparkling summer furniture during sunny days as well as on the day of the summer fayre on Saturday, July 2 from 2pm.

Paternoster is also hosting an open gardens event next Friday, June 26 from 2-4.30pm where members of the public can come and visit the gardens and enjoy refreshments.
