A NEW family festival will be held at Cirencester Rugby Club later this month, to raise money and drum up support for the upcoming Phoenix Festival in August.

The Fringe Festival promises to be a big, family-fun day on Saturday, June 27 with live bands, activities, food, drink and more.

Organisers have launched the festival idea to raise money for the annual Phoenix Festival held in the Abbey Grounds.

One organiser Kelly Keen said this was the first time this festival had been done in Cirencester.

"It'll be a bit like the Phoenix Festival but on a smaller scale," she said. "There will be stalls, pub vs pub tug of war, and we want to bring back the Cirencester Beauty Queen competition for 13-17 year olds as well."

"We want to make this event as fantastic and family orientated as possible."

The Fringe Festival will be held all day at Cirencester Rugby Club on June 27 from 1pm-11.30pm. Everyone is welcome.

The Phoenix Festival is on August 29-30.
