A COMMUNITY choir in Malmesbury is gearing up to celebrate its second year with a spectacular birthday concert.

Malmesbury Community Choir is made up of people of all ages from teenagers to seventy year olds and was founded in June 2013.

Without any auditions a group of around 70 people banded together for its first rehearsal and they have never looked back.

The choir is currently hard at work rehearsing for its second birthday concert which will feature a chance to hear the beautiful voice Helen James, 19, an amateur from Bristol with a love of classical music who is putting her opera talents on show.

A mix of genres has been promised for the concert, featuring classic songs from Mary Poppins and a few more modern numbers.

The concert is to be held at Malmesbury C of E Primary School on Tetbury Hill on June 13 with doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

Tickets are available from A4 Stationers, High Street, Malmesbury.
