THE Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Tetbury have been re-elected.

Mayor of Tetbury Cllr Sandra Ball and her deputy Cllr Tony Walsh were voted in for another year-long term by fellow councillors at Tetbury’s annual council meeting on Monday, May 18.

Cllr Ball has held her post for the past year, she said: “The thing I’ve most enjoyed about being Mayor is meeting people. It’s not all about Prince Charles, it’s meeting local people who do so much for Tetbury.

“The best thing I think I’ve done so far is the World War One commemorations, especially unveiling the commemorative stone. I thought that was so important.”

Cllr Walsh thanked the Mayor for her services so far and said she had been “a credit to the town”.

The council also welcomed new councillors Mark Steedman, Bryan Edge, Jon Easterbrook and Jason Stevens.

The groups that councillors will be sitting on were also decided.

On the finance and scrutiny committee will be Tony Walsh, Stephen Hirst, Sandra Ball, Mark Steedman, Ian Maslin, and Colin Pearce.

The heritage and regeneration committee will comprise Kevin Painter, Colin Pearce, Mark Steedman, Tina Stevenson, Sandra Ball, Martin Lea, Stephen Hirst and Jason Stevens.

On the planning committee will be Ian Maslin, Stephen Hirst, Tina Stevenson, Martin Lea, Kevin Painter, Colin Pearce and Brian Edge.

Starting an “estates group” was also suggested to look after some of the council’s holdings and take some of the burden off other groups.

As only 12 of the 15 council seats have been taken, three councillors will be co-opted from the community.
