FORUM Car Park in Cirencester will begin to reopen today as extensive refurbishment work draws to a close.

The car park will reopen for business in the afternoon after closing for six weeks.

Contractor Griffiths began work on February 9 to install new drainage, reduce external walling, lay kerbing and remove tree stumps.

They also remodeled the entrance and exits, improved pedestrian access, installed new payment machines and constructed a new pedestrian access ramp.

Cotswold District Council parking services manager Maria Wheatley said: “The contractors have almost finished the resurfacing and relining work, and parts of the car park should be available later in the day on Tuesday 21 April.

“We expect that the capacity will increase to the full 191 spaces – including 12 spaces which comply with the Disability Discrimination Act – as the week progresses.

“However, I would urge users to exercise caution over the next few days because workmen will still be on site finishing off some of the detailed work such as landscaping and attending to walls.”
