THE printing of election literature is fraught with danger, as Lib Dem candidate Paul Hodgkinson and Conservative Stuart Tarr discovered this week.

The Liberal Democrats delivered election letters to more than 10,000 people across the Cotswold constituency and beyond with the wrong contact number printed – and some of these were sent to Stroud constituents.

Marc Giddings, who lives in Burleigh, near Stroud, contacted the Standard to say that he had received a personalised letter from Mr Hodgkinson.

Confused as to why he had received the letter from a candidate in a constituency in which he did not have a vote, Mr Giddings called the number – 01285 229 324 – printed on the leaflet only to find that it was unobtainable. The correct number is 01285 239 224.

In Cirencester, district council candidate Stuart Tarr had leaflets delivered in the Beeches Ward where he is standing. Cirencester was mis-spelled on the leaflet.
