FINAL auditions will be held next weekend for an exciting new youth theatre production.

This August, 60 of the Cotswolds most talented 7 - 24 year olds will perform the Watchmaker’s Daughter at Bingham Hall, Cirencester.

The original script has been written for a six week performance in London’s West End but will be adapted for the younger cast.

Not for profit company MJ-UK will be coaching the children with help from playwright Michael Webborn and actors from the London show.

Final auditions for the new musical are on Sunday, April 26, at 10am at Bingham Hall, Cirencester.

Rehearsals will begin on August 1 and the performance will take place between Thursday, August 13, and Saturday, August 15.

Successful children will have to pay £200 to cover running costs.

Organiser Iwan Lewis, 26, came to Cirencester from West Wales 10 years ago to learn his trade.

Since then he has graced stages across the Britain, playing the lead role in stage version of legally blonde and appearing in the film adaptation of Les Misérables.

He said: “We really want to put Cirencester on the theatre map. We’ve already had a good take up for the performance, all of them are from the local area and all of them are better than I was back then!

“We want to make sure that everyone is involved. When I used to do these performances I would sometimes be sitting around when I wasn’t rehearsing.

“We want to make sure that anyone who isn’t rehearsing is learning something.

“This musical has huge potential and we want to make it really professional.”

Iwan has started a new Cirencester based theatre company called StageSmart.

Starting September it will offer lessons on evenings and weekends for aspiring young actors.
