100 actors will descend on a market town as it is turned into an apocalyptic Suffolk village for a new TV comedy drama.

Northleach will play host to the cast of new Sky series Apocalypse Slough.

The 10-part series features Mathew Baynton - Horrible Histories and Gavin & Stacey - Pauline Quirke – Missing and Broadchurch – and Rob Lowe – The West Wing and St Elmo’s Fire.

Produced by Working Title Productions the plot follows a group of eccentrics as they journey to Slough “to become the future of the human race”.

Northleach will be turned into an apocalyptic market place where two characters will look for a fictitious woman.

Filming will take place at the police station, betting shop, market place and town hall.

The sites will be prepared on the afternoon of Thursday, May 7, to be ready for a full day of filming on Friday, May 8.

The square will be closed while filming commences and a temporary ‘Stop/Go’ traffic system will be in place when filming takes places.

There will be three actors, 60 crew members and about 100 extras.

Northleach recently featured in the TV adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s Casual Vacancy.
