A SPONSORED walk with a difference is being held to raise money for Carer Support Wiltshire this summer.

The charity is looking for people to take part in its first Wiltshire Walk A Mile in My Shoes event taking place on June 13 from 2pm.

The walk, which marks the end of national Carers Week, will start at the Buttercross in Chippenham and lead into Monkton Park where it will finish with a family picnic in the park.

Walkers are encouraged to swap shoes or wear silly footwear before or during the walk to raise funds for Wiltshire’s unpaid carers.

Helen Pearson, Fundraiser at Carer Support Wiltshire, said: “We are hoping that the Wiltshire public will get involved with this one mile walk to help us to raise vital funds to provide more support and services to people caring for a relative or friend in Wiltshire.

“We want people to borrow the wildest footwear they can find, or dig out shoes they wouldn’t usually wear and imagine what it would be like to walk a mile in a carer’s shoes.

“It looks set to be a great event so we hope lots of members of the public and families will come forward to take part!”

Registration for the walk is £10 per adult and £5 per child which includes an event T-shirt and a medal for completing the walk.

There is a family rate of £25 for 2 adults and 2 children.

You can register to take part online at bit.ly/walkamile2015 or by calling Carer Support Wiltshire on 01380 871690.
