A TEACHER at a Gloucestershire comprehensive school has been sacked after being charged with 21 sex offences, including allegations of indecency at a public toilet on the A417 near Cirencester.

Thomas Ceri Boothe, aged 57, of Montgomery Close in Hucclecote, will appear at Gloucester Crown Court on April 17 to face charges for offences said to have taken place between 1990 and 2014.

There are seven charges of taking indecent images of children and three charges of possessing indecent images of children, four counts of indecent assaults, five counts of sexual activity with a mentally disordered male and two charges of outraging public decency.

Mr Boothe, who taught art at Newent Community School in Newent, Gloucester, was initially suspended when the allegations came to light and then later sacked.

None of the offences are related to anyone else associated with Newent Community School.

Mr Boothe appeared at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Friday and was committed to the crown court.

One of the alleged offences of outraging public decency is said to have taken place at the public toilets at Granny’s Pump, the lorry lay-by off the A417 close to the Cowley roundabout, between January 1994 and December 1999.
