THE Cotswold Canals Trust (CCT) is putting out a call out for volunteers to help with its plans to transform a stretch of the Cotswold canal network near Cirencester.
Last year the charity carried out extensive work rebuilding Weymoor Bridge as part of its project to renovate a section spanning from the Gateway Centre off the Spine Road to Latton Basin.
Building work will start again in April and the Trust is in desperate need volunteers to help restore the collapsed bridge, which has stood since the 1700s, to its former glory.
John Maxted, manager of the project, said: “A wide range of skills are needed. That includes bricklayers, mortar mixers and movers, digger operators and dumper drivers.
"In fact we welcome any enthusiastic ‘what-can-I do-to help’ volunteers.
"There is something for everyone really, and it really is fun to be recreating something that was built way back in the 1700's."
