A BLUES singer and guitarist who once performed with Elton John and Jimi Hendrix will be rocking up to St Edward’s Church in Stow-on-the-Wold this April for the town’s music festival.

Andy Fairweather Low and his Low Riders will bring their brand of blues, country, soul and gospel to the church as part of an event promoted by Music at Stow on Saturday, April 18.

Andy used to be the go-to guitarist for Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Roger Waters, amongst others. Throughout his career he has played with Bob Dylan, Elton John, Jimi Hendrix and other superstars.

Tom Knight of Music at Stow said the group’s aim was to bring big names to small places.

“We are thrilled to have Andy at St Edward’s for what will be a special night,” he said. “St Edward’s is a beautiful church with a special atmosphere and wonderful acoustics.

“Last autumn, Fairport Convention headlined the first Music at Stow festival and they loved playing in the church. People loved seeing it absolutely packed out. Our aim is to bring world class music to the north Cotswolds and to put our historic church at the heart of the community.”

Tickets are available now from The Cotswold Cricket Museum on 01451 870083 and the Borzoi Bookshop in Church Street, Stow.
