MORE parents have come forward to say they also witnessed a 'dangerous' white van causing chaos in Cirencester last week.

Young children and their parents were left terrified last Wednesday, February 25 after a white van was reported to be speeding around a busy residential area, during school rush hour.

Police were called around 12 times in the space of the afternoon after the white transit van was seen "screeching" through the Beeches estate as children walked home from school.

One mum, who asked not to be named, originally said the behaviour was "disgusting" and that it terrified her four-year-old daughter.

Now more parents have come forward to complain about the behaviour of the van driver.

Lindsey Kavanagh said she was driving towards the Golden Farm pub roundabout in the Beeches estate last Wednesday when she heard a vehicle screeching.

“I turned left on the roundabout and out of nowhere the van skidded around me directly in front of my car,” she said. “I slammed on the brakes and looked up to see the white van then skid across the road into an oncoming car.

“I checked on the kids in the car, then on the other vehicle on the other side of the road but when I looked up the white van had gone.”

Another parent, only named Mrs T, said her 11-year-old daughter was nearly hit by what she believes was the same van.

The mother who first shared her views on Facebook, who did not want to be named said the van had almost crashed into parked cars it was going so fast.

"He came round the bend slamming on his brakes or handbrake screeching down the road going sideways narrowly missing cars," she said.

"There were a fair few children and parents watching. He managed to straighten up then did exactly the same thing opposite the Beeches shop. Apparently he nearly hit another four-year-old school girl.

"He was metres away from my daughter who was stood on the curb. I think it was some sort of game for him but my little girl was petrified. The noise from the braking was horrendous."

The parent of three said she was absolutely disgusted and called police immediately.

"How dare he do that especially on a well known school route with small children walking home. I hope he is stripped on his licence as I see he was being a nuisance round town for the majority of the day.

"Totally unacceptable behaviour, it could have been so much worse."

Police are investigating and ask anyone with information to call 101 quoting incident number 254 of February 25.
