A LECHLADE man who had not run more than six miles in his life is currently undergoing intense training for this year's London Marathon.
Mark Lloyd counted himself lucky when he was accepted into the 2015 London Marathon, but admitted he was shocked and a little scared.
Before he was accepted he had only ever run six miles before.
He is now given himself a strict training regime, and will even be running the Silverstone Half Marathon in March to prepare for the big day on April 26.
"It's getting close very quickly," said Mark. "I'm not concerned, I'll prepare correctly so that although very hard, I will try to enjoy running in the worlds biggest, best marathon."
Earlier this week Mark said he was busy training for the half marathon.
"Training is going ok, a few injury niggles but that's normal," he added.
And even tendinitis in his left ankle did not hold him back from training. A quick trip to the doctor and a specialist meant he was back in his running trainers soon after recovering.
Mark is raising money for four different charities, Mind, Cancer Research UK, Blue Cross and CLIC Sargent. The final amount he raises will be split equally between the charities.
