A DANGEROUS pothole has been repaired following reports that eight cars were damaged when the road collapsed.

The pothole, which was on the southbound side of the A429 in Kemble, on the way from Cirencester, was patched up last night by workers from Gloucestershire County Council's highways contractor, Amey.

Eight cars were said to have suffered punctures, with some having severe damage to both wheels on one side, after the pothole appeared yesterday.

Police were called and there were a number of drivers who had to wait to be picked up by recovery vehicles.

A council spokeswoman said workmen arrived at the scene at around 6.30pm yesterday and repaired the pothole shortly afterwards.
