DISTRICT council leader Lynden Stowe has responded to a story in satirical magazine, Private Eye, which discusses the proposed development of 2,350 homes in the Chesterton area of Cirencester.
In the article it is reported that district council Lib Dems said that Lord Bathurst and Mr Stowe, met six times before CDC published its controversial Local Plan for new homes across the Cotswolds, which includes the Chesterton homes.
Mentioned in the article is the Standard’s interview with Lord Bathurst, where the Earl said he was not 'meeting Mr Stowe for dinner every night of the week'.
Cllr Stowe said he wanted to make it clear that he met the Lord Bathurst six times over the past 12 years and during those meetings there was no discussion on the Chesterton homes or other development proposals in Cirencester.
He explained that he made this point clear when he was asked 'how many times he had met the Earl?' by district council Lib Dem leader, Paul Hodgkinson at the district council's meeting on September, 23 2014.
