A REPLACEMENT for Malmesbury’s former police sergeant Martin Alvis is being sought by Wiltshire police and currently there are three candidates up for consideration.
Three sergeants have applied for the role formerly filled by Sgt Alvis following his move to a custody assignment in Melksham.
Speaking at a recent community safety forum acting sergeant Stephen Harvey said that the replacement was expected by the end of February.
He said: “Three sergeants have applied for the position now so it’s just a case of someone being selected.”
PC Harvey could not comment on whether or not the popular Facebook updates written by Sgt Alvis would continue under the new sergeant and stressed that they had only stopped as the team were working hard on their beats.
