A PHOTOGRAPHER from Cirencester has launched her own competition, looking for amateur snappers of all abilities to enter their favourite winter pictures.

Kay Ransom, who owns Kay Ransom Photography in North Cerney, launched the competition at the beginning of this year.

She was frustrated last year after trying and failing to find a good UK or Gloucestershire-based competition to enter, so decided to start her own.

"Anyone who's main income is not photography can enter," said Kay. "It's something fun for people to do. Hopefully in 10 years time, if we hold one every year, we could expand it and get more sponsors, categories and prizes."

One of Kay's hobbies includes wakeboarding and as a prize she has managed to get her hands on a top GoPro camera from competition sponsor and sports store ATBShop in Swindon.

GoPro cameras allow sportsmen and women to film themselves on the move, whether it be cycling, running or wakeboarding.

Anyone from England, Scotland or Wales interested in entering just has to submit their photo to Kay for her and another photographer to judge. The theme is 'what I love about winter'. Entrants can submit up to two photos, providing they were both taken in 2015. The deadline is March 19, with winners being contacted in April.

Email photos up to 10mb to photocompetition@kayransom.com to be in with a chance of winning.
