STAFF from workplaces across Gloucestershire are being encouraged to get active as part of a new competition.

Active Gloucestershire is delivering the My Team 2015 campaign, which asks employees to win points for their workplace by taking part in sports and other physical pursuits using an online activity tracker tool.

The company earning the highest number of activity points in the campaign, which runs between January 5 and March 1 2015, will clinch the title of the most active workplace in Gloucestershire.

John Stevens, CEO of Active Gloucestershire, said: “Active Gloucestershire is delighted to be one of the County Sports Partnerships working with Workplace Challenge, to roll out ‘My Team 2015’ across the country in order to get More People, More Active, More Often in Gloucestershire.

“We would love to see the Gloucestershire business, education and public sector community embracing the social spirit of the new campaign, using the camaraderie generated to support their employees in leading healthier lifestyles and in turn enjoying the productivity and cost-saving benefits a more physically active workforce has been proven to generate.”

To help motivate staff and create friendly rivalry in the competition, Active Gloucestershire is encouraging participants to share their team goals and successes via social media.

They are also being asked to challenge local businesses to take up the challenge on Twitter using hashtag #MyTeam2015 or the site's new refer a friend or colleague feature.

The completion has been masterminded by Workplace Challenge, a national programme which aims to engage workplaces in sport and physical activity.
