A MOTORIST was in such a rush to stock up on Christmas treats at a Cirencester supermarket they overshot the entrance and ended up in a bush, it would appear.

The abandoned silver-coloured Saab was snapped at Waitrose in Sheep Street, just after 2pm today by Alan Hughes, who was returning to his car after shopping at the supermarket.

Mr Hughes, of Cirencester, said: " I couldn't believe my eyes at first - I thought 'I know parking can be difficult at Christmas but that's taking it too far!'

"But I don't think the car was deliberately parked there. It looks like someone has overshot the entrance and to their misfortune they've ended up in the bushes. They must have been in a hurry to get their Christmas food shop done but thankfully no one appears to have been injured."

Mr Hughes said he was not the only festive shopper to take a photograph of the unfortunate driver's vehicle.

He added: "As I was taking a quick picture on my mobile phone I noticed another shopper doing likewise, who remarked to me that 'someone must have been in a hurry'."

Stephen Gardiner, branch manager at Waitrose Cirencester said: "We are thankful that no one, including the driver, was injured."
