KIND-HEARTED readers of the Standard have offered replacement bicycles to the victim of a bike-theft in Cirencester who was struggling to get to-and-from work.
Thieves stole the bike, a specialised Rockhopper Comp 2014, from the Royal Agricultural University after using bolt cutters to remove a heavy duty lock.
The bicycle was purchased on the bike-to-work scheme and has an identification number, WSBC60218228I, which can be found on the frame.
Offers of replacement bicycles came in from two readers but the victim’s sister told the Standard the “family has already grouped together to buy my brother another bike”.
She continued: “Please pass on my thanks and appreciation to the lovely members of the public that have been so generous. It reminds us all that when something awful happens something lovely can come out if it."
The theft occurred on Saturday November 1st, sometime between 12noon and 2:30pm.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101.
