A CIRENCESTER College student who suffers from diabetes inspired a onesie themed fundraising day in aid of World Diabetes Day on Friday.

Alice Simpson wanted to raise awareness of the disease, which she was diagnosed with when she was only 11 years old.

The 17 year old has Type 1 diabetes, a form of diabetes that affects 400,000 people in the UK alone, which means either administering up to 4 injections a day or wearing an insulin pump.

Alice said: “Having type 1 diabetes, makes me feel extremely passionate about making people aware of this illness and raising money to find a cure. ”

The group raised much needed money to help with research through a cake sale and wearing their onesies, the total being a massive £176.

This will go the juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, a charity dedicated to improving lives and funding research to cure, treat and prevent Type 1 diabetes.
