STAFF at Cirencester Hospital are marking this year's Remembrance Day by decorating a tree with hundreds of eye-catching poppies.

Naomi Sparkhall, who works on the minor injuries unit at the hospital, had the idea to decorate a large tree outside the building with the symbolic red flower.

She got hold of a roll call of all of Cirencester's fallen serviceman and now plans to enlarge and laminate the list and display the names in the garden behind the main reception, where the poppy tree is based.

Staff, visitors and the public can pay £1 to hang a poppy on the tree outside the hospital. Each flower will represent one of the Cirencester veterans and the aim is to have more than 300 poppies on the tree and raise hundreds of pounds for the Royal British Legion.
