ABOUT 50 homes in villages near Malmesbury were left without power last week after electricity cables were blown down by high winds in the wake of Hurricane Gonzalo.
The cables came down at the A429 Kemble Business Park, near Oaksey, on October 21, closing the road to Oaksey village for several hours.
The fault, which also affected homes in Crudwell, Kemble, Kemble Wick and South Cerney, was logged just before 3.30pm. Scottish and Southern Electricity Power Distribution had hoped power would be back on within a couple of hours but power was not restored until 8pm.
