A CIRENCESTER community group is looking for new members to help them engage with residents and bring fun events back to the Beeches.

The Beeches Community Group will hold its annual general meeting on November 13 when it will elect a new committee and discuss plans for the coming year.

The group has represented the community on a number of important issues ranging from fly tipping, dog mess and anti-social behaviour as well as taking part in consultations with the town council and construction companies during major developments.

Chairman of the group Stuart Tarr explained that the group was currently missing a secretary and a treasurer and hoped to recruit for these two positions at least at the group’s AGM.

He also warned that there is a chance the group could fold if the secretary position is not filled.

If this were the case the money and equipment still held by the group would have to be transferred to another voluntary or community group in the area.

Cirencester Town Council’s community engagement officer Nick Bridges said: “We’re looking for people who can contribute and people who can grow in the role.”

“Neither of these roles need be onerous but they are a requirement of being a group.”

The group only meets six times a year and Stuart stressed that the commitment necessary for the secretary role would only be a few hours every month, involving taking minutes at meetings and occasionally checking emails to be forwarded to other members of the committee.

The group will hold its AGM on Thursday November 13 at 7pm at Ingleside House on Beeches Road. All are welcome to attend.
