A SOUTH Cerney man will be taking his complaint about the district council approving plans that will block his lakeside view to the Local Government Ombudsman.

Developer Redrow Homes built the Cerney on the Water housing complex at The Mallards in South Cerney, and is set to build 149 homes and community facilities to complete the project.

Residents living in Swan Close in the complex are angry that as part of the next phase of the project plans have been changed to allow the building of nine Lakeside homes, which will block their view.

Several objectors to the change of plans were told by the district council that their complaint would be listened to, but before that happened plans were approved by a Cotswold District Council (CDC) planning officer.

The council maintains that the plans were changed by officers in consultation with ward members taking into account the objections of residents.

Swan Close resident Alan Dickenson believed Redrow misled him and others when they sold the houses, and is going to raise the matter with the secretary of state for communities and local government.

Mr Dickenson said: “At no time did Redrow give any purchaser any information, layout, picture, diagram, illustration of the outline approved layout, let alone the revised layout. They sought to deceive and withhold information from purchasers and refused to enter into dialogue to discuss the matter.

“Redrow and CDC and the other people involved in this know I am not going to go away.

“I would like to greater focus on the whole matter as planning has been a running sore with CDC.”
