HRH The Princess Royal has had a busy day in Cirencester on Monday, opening the new science laboratories at Kingshill School and the refurbished offices of the Citizens Advice Bureau.

The Princess visited Cirencester Kingshill School to open the new science laboratories and Learning Resource Centre.

Headteacher Christine Oates Oates said: “This was a tremendous honour for the school. We were delighted that Her Royal Highness kindly responded to our invitation and the event was a very happy one for the whole school.”

After being greeted by Dame Janet Trotter DBE and Ms Oates, the Princess visited the science laboratories where she spent time with two Year 10 classes and engaged in practical science lessons.

She then visited the new library where she met members of staff, pupils and governors, before speaking about the importance of women in science and unveiling a brass plaque, commemorating her visit.

As Patron of The National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux, the Princess was interested to hear on Monday about the work advisers are doing in the Cotswold District to help local residents resolve their housing, money, relationship, employment and legal problems.

She paid tribute to the dedication and skill of all the team to serve the rural community by providing a face to face, telephone and an email advice service.

The Princess Royal said how wonderful it was to hear how the Cotswold CAB service was so well supported by the Cotswold District and Gloucester County Council and other local charities.

She was invited to cut a cake marking the reopening of the Cotswold District CAB and 75 years of the CAB service.
