MALMESBURY Town Council is investigating which buildings might be eligible to be registered as community assets with Wiltshire Council.
Community Assets are buildings which are significant to a town and when they are to be sold a six month waiting period can be requested for residents to organise a community bid.
The sites which the council hopes to list are Abbey House and Gardens, the Moravian Church and Manse, Manor House on Oxford Street and the Old School House.
Deputy Mayor Cllr Kim Power said: “We’ve been looking at a variety of assets in the town from community centres to pubs as obviously these are two important areas to the community.”
Cllr Power added that for now these were simply preliminary investigations which would need to be submitted to Wiltshire Council, which would respond with its decision later.
