BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER Parish Council has approved a number of small grants for local businesses and community groups.

Members approved a £1,000 grant for the town’s Memory Club, £1,000 for group Artlift, £300 for Cotswold Volunteers and £250 for Bourton Primary Gardening Club.

The parish council also approved a grant of £200 for Bourton Chamber of Commerce to go towards defibrillator electrodes as well as 50 per cent of the costs for this year’s Christmas tree and lights, totalling £1,636.

Other grants which were approved by councillors included £100 towards Victim Support, £100 towards St John Ambulance, £100 towards Cobalt Appeal, £100 towards County Air Ambulance and £45 towards Open Spaces Society.

The Naight Club, which provides companionship for people with physical disabilities, and the Baptist Church have been asked to meet with the council to discuss their larger grant applications further.

The council is also going to arrange a meeting with Bourton Visitor Information Centre later in October to discuss their request for help with funding.
