EAGER townsfolk gathered outside Malmesbury Abbey on the weekend as Prince William and Prince Harry arrived at the wedding of a close childhood friend

The Royal brothers' close friend Victoria Inskip, fondly known as Tor, married Robert Davies-Jones in the packed abbey and the historic building was transformed with flowers imported from Holland and a small forest of trees.

The Duke of Cambridge’s pregnant wife Kate did not come with her husband as she is still suffering from morning sickness.

Victoria, a Chelsea-based estate agent, has known both the men since childhood and often spent time at Highgrove.

In the past she helped raised money for Sentebale, the African charity set up by Harry to support vulnerable children in Lesotho.

Along with the princes, the guest list also included the polo-playing Tomlinson family from Westonbirt, Harry’s nightclub Svengali friend Guy Pelly and Glasses Direct founder Jamie Murray-Wells.

Tor’s brother Tom, known as ‘Skippy’, is Prince Harry’s best friend, and has often accompanied him on many of his trips.

The bride’s father, Owen, is a leading light of the Beaufort hunt and her mother, Clare, is a sculptor in Little Somerford, near Malmesbury.

The wedding was a traditional one, led by Malmesbury Abbey curate John Monaghan.

But guests were invited to sing along with The Beatles’ classic ‘All You Need Is Love’ at one point in the ceremony.

After the wedding, a large crowd of residents gathered to cheer the newlyweds out of the abbey’s entrance.

The Princes chatted with the other guests before heading off to the reception, held at the bride’s family home in Little Somerford.
