HANKERTON is now home to a brand new kissing gate thanks to a small group of dedicated volunteers.

Residents David Wood, Ted Grierson, Tony Hill, Brian Dalton, and David Pynn decided to install the gate after replacing the old rickety stile which was avoided by some members of the community.

The team spent two and a half hours dismantling the old stile, putting down postcrete for the new poles and installing the donated kissing gate after it was delivered to the site by a tractor.

After an anonymous benefactor gifted it to the village and the parish council informed Wiltshire Council of their plans the project was given the go ahead and swiftly completed.

As well as improving this and several other access ways volunteers in Hankerton have been cleaning up the village and recently put up several new village signs which show an outline of Hankerton church.
