THE Halfpenny Bridge in Lechlade was the starting point for a rowing team’s 150 trip along the River Thames.

The Great Thames Row team, which included leukaemia survivor Chris Spencer were raising money for charity the Anthony Nolan Trust.

Chris, whose life was saved by the Trust when it found him a donor, rowed alongside his brother Roger, their rowing club mate Daniel Bartlett, Robbie Coleman and Paul Prentice.

A spokesman for the team said the men set themselves a tough challenge by each day rowing up to twice the distance that many professional rowers at the top of their sport would not contemplate.

Between them, the men have amounted many accomplishments, such as rowing for Great Britain.
