A TEAM of cyclists riding from Cirencester to Paris have raised a massive £2,070 for Alzheimer’s Research UK.

The trio of keen bikers smashed their £1,000 fundraising target and thanked all those who supported them on their 250 mile journey.

One of the cyclists Daniel Boulton explained that they didn’t manage the run in 24 hours as they were hampered by a sat nav which broke just outside of Paris and road conditions in the French capital.

He said: “We went around the Arc de Triomphe roundabout and the one before it and it was just mayhem.”

He described the cobbled streets as: “Not what you need after 250 miles of cycling.”

He added: “Everyone did really well and we didn’t have any mechanical problems or punctures, so were very lucky on that.”

The team planned to buy clothes to return in but were only able to pick up some fashionable striped shirts and berets for the return journey.

When they finally made it home the team had a very early night, though at least one member of the team cycled in to work the following Monday.
