CIRENCESTER’S Tesco Extra store has become the latest business in the town to take part in the ice bucket challenge.

Staff took a dunking on Thursday 28 August to raise awareness of motor neurone disease through the challenge which has taken the nation by storm.

They have nominated sister stores Cirencester Metro, Chesterton Express and Brockworth Extra to take on the challenge next.

Amy Short better services manager at Tesco in Cirencester explained that all Tesco stores are donating profits from ice sales to the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

She said: “We are trying to raise the profile of what we are doing it, is quite a big thing.

“Tesco are donating to motor neurons disease. That is a big step for Tesco and we are challenging other supermarkets to do the same.

Tesco were first supermarket to announce all extra sales from the ice would go to Motor Neurone charity.

As a reward for braving the chilly water the staff raised £200 through sponsorship and that figure is still rising.”

Other businesses from the town that have taken part in the challenge, include Havas EHS and Gardiner Haskins.
