TETBURY CC have enjoyed the most successful season in the club's history by winning titles with each of their three teams.

Tetbury's first XI won the Gloucestershire County Cricket League Division Three, the seconds secured the CDCA Division Three title and the Sunday XI lifted the Village League Division Three division.

After tasting defeat in only the second game of the season the firsts went nearly three months unbeaten before their only other loss (in 11 matches) came away to Cranham.

There were superb performances throughout the year from Alex Evans, Sam Price, Tom Horrell, Michael Baverstock, James Meacham, Ben Evans, Mark Schumm, Sushi Sikara, Sid Baverstock, Ryan Walker, Jiggy Sharpe and James Westhead backed by excellent support from John Hoddy and Ryan Leather.

Tetbury seconds have come a long way from being the league's whipping boys and struggling to field a full XI just two seasons ago to become CDCA champions.

From the opening 86-run victory away to Great Rissington in April, the side did not look back, the balance of club veterans and exciting youth prospects being well marshalled by new captain Jamie Ponting.

They won 10 of their 11 completed games to gain promotion for the first time in the club's history with an impressive haul of 211 points.

The stand-out performance of the season was an incredible comeback against Charlton in the penultimate game of the season.

Having hit a respectable 177-8, an impressive spell of death bowling, led by Joseph Sharpe, resulted in a 13-run victory in a match which at one stage Charlton required just 35 runs from the last 10 overs with seven wickets in hand.

Nigel Keylock secured the division's batting award for the most runs scored and young leg spinner Tom Selwood lifted the bowling award for the most wickets taken.

But the consistent batting performances of Chris Baker and Ryan Leather as well as the economical bowling of Andy Insull should not go unrecognised.

Tetbury's success wasn't limited only to the Saturday teams this year as the Sunday XI capped a remarkable season for the club by securing the championship in the South Glos/Wilts Village League.

Notable victories over Bradley Stoke and Painswick coupled with a convincing double victory over Chalford helped the club finish as champions.

Superb individual performances with the bat were given by Sam Price (116) and Tom Horrell (133).

Under the stewardship of teenager Joseph Sharpe in his first season as captain, Tetbury achieved a fine record of eight wins and one defeat.

Buoyed by the return of Sushi Sikara from India in June the Sunday XI were hugely impressive throughout the summer.

Sushi and Tom Selwood were the leading wicket takers for the Sunday XI with nine and 12 wickets respectively.

The club's combined record in 2014 was P40, W35, L5, for an impressive 87.5 per cent success rate!
