A TEAM leader at the Mitsubishi dealership in Cirencester has signed up for next year’s London Marathon in aid of children’s charity WellChild.

Wayne Connolly is aiming to raise at least £1,600 by running the race and will be donating the money WellChild, which helps seriously ill children and their families across the UK.

The father-of-two has started his training for the event, which takes place on April 26 next year, and will also raise money for WellChild when he takes on the Silverstone Half Marathon on March 15.

Wayne said: “I’m not a runner at all, I hate running, so doing the marathon is a daunting thing. I turned 40 last year and I’ve got two young children and I want to be able to run around after them.”

WellChild is the chosen charity of CCR Mitsubishi, which owns 11 dealerships across the south, including Cirencester Mitsubishi in Gloucester Road, Stratton.

Wayne added: “I know all about the work WellChild do and they are a fantastic charity so I want to do really well for them.”

Colin Dyer, Chief Executive of the Cheltenham-based charity, said: "We’re really pleased Wayne has decided to take on this challenge and raise vital funds for WellChild.

"Donations from people like Wayne enable us to invest more money in charitable programmes for seriously ill children, which is great news."
