A Cheltenham man is being hunted by police after failing to appear in court.

Declan Lonergan, 18 and of Welch Road in Cheltenham, was due to appear at Gloucester Crown Court last Friday to face burglary and attempted burglary charges, relating to an incident in Cheltenham on Tuesday May 27.

After failing to appear at court a warrant was issued for Lonergan's arrest.

Inspector Tim Waterhouse said: "We have been carrying out an exhaustive search for Lonergan and have made a number of inquiries.

"We will continue to do that but we need help from the public. If you have seen Lonergan, have any information about his disappearance or recognise his face from the last few days, please make contact with us straight away."

The door of a house in Spenser Road was damaged during the attempted break-in while a house in Milton Road was the target for the burglary.

While he is not considered a threat to the public, police advise people not to approach Lonergan but to call 999 if appropriate or the Operation Spa team straight away on 01242 276659.

Lonergan is described as white, 5ft 7ins, with brown, cropped hair and a tattoo on his neck.

Crimestoppers can also be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.
