TETBURY Summer and Flower Show went down a storm despite wet and windy weather conditions.

The annual show, which included a best cake competition and a dog show, got off to a tough start due to the weather, but when the sun shone later, crowds appeared in numbers.

Ken White, one of the organisers of the event, which took place at the Recreation Ground on August 10, said: “The flower show and the summer show went off very well in the end. We had quite a lot of rain and quite a lot of high wind.

“Late afternoon the crowds did come in. When the sun came out in the late afternoon it was very well supported considering the conditions. “Stiff upper lip we carried on regardless. It was a successful event given the conditions.”

He added that three gazebos were lost due to the bad weather at the show.

A parade through the town to the Recreation Ground opened the event on Sunday morning.

It was led by the City of Bristol Pipes and Drums and included several novelty items, including Trigger the land train which transported Tetbury Mayor, Sandra Ball, to the Recreation ground.

Among the entertainment at the show was Arts Frenzy, a youth dance group from the town, which went down very well with local folk.
