A VINTAGE motorcycle was the transport of choice for one fundraiser over the weekend, when he completed a marathon 15 hour ride around Gloucestershire.

David Bovenizer, 62, undertook the challenge on August 16 to raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice and covered a staggering 301 miles in his one day journey.

The original route covered around 350 miles, skirting around the edge of Gloucestershire, but David had to cut down the route on the day.

He said: “It went brilliantly. It was tough but I went 301 miles in about fifteen hours.

“I had to cut out some of the route as the motorcycle wouldn’t go up some of the hills!”

Despite the painful 5.30am-9.00pm ride on his 1959 Excelsior Consort motorcycle David was happy with the outcome and is now more than halfway to his £500 fundraising target.

The two speed bike David rode on the day used eight litres of fuel on the journey but managed to survive the ordeal.
