A NEW skate park in Cirencester will be officially opened this Sunday.
The skate park at Kingshill, which opened to the public at the end of June, will see hundreds of people gather to celebrate the launch of the exciting new addition to the town.
It will be officially opened on Sunday, August 17 at 1pm as part of the Skate Jam 'Scratch and Skate' event organised by Gaz at Decimal Skate Store.
Visitors can enjoy burgers and hot dogs provided by Jesse Smith's and enjoying using the new skate ramps.
The idea for a skate park in Cirencester came about eight years ago, yet construction only began in October 2013.
Now the £200,000 project, funded by Cirencester Town Council with support from Sport England, is finally complete and skateboarders of all abilities have been able to enjoy the park, based at Kingshill Sports Complex, for the past few months.
"It's used from dusk til dawn every day," said Gaz, who owns Decimal in Cirencester. "Some people are travelling three and half hours to get here for the opening. It's an amazing facility for Cirencester."
The event has been organised by Gaz as part of the annual Summer Off the Streets programme launched by Cotswold District Council and World Jungle.
