WORK to redouble the railway line between Kemble and Swindon could cause passengers delays of up to an hour over the Bank Holiday weekend.
First Great Western is encouraging its passengers travelling between Swindon and Gloucester to check journey times and routes prior to departure.
Network Rail’s £45million upgrade will mean the closure of the line between Swindon and Gloucester as well as routes through Swindon between August 19 and August 24.
FGW spokesman, Rob Mullen said: “These are vital infrastructure works to help pave the way for increased capacity and reduced journey times, and better performance and punctuality that electrification and new electric trains will bring for future services.
“We have worked closely with our colleagues at Network Rail to keep disruption to a minimum.”
