POLICE believe that a spate of burglaries in Ashton Keynes is being committed by locals.
There have been several break-ins or attempted breaks-ins to houses and sheds in the village this year, with the latest, a failed house burglary, happening between August 1 and 4.
Tool marks were found on a ground floor window of a house in the latest incident but the burglar failed to get in .
Sergeant Martin Alvis, of Malmesbury Police, said he believed the burglaries were being committed by somebody who lives locally.
He said: “Someone knows who this is, I do not think people are travelling miles and miles. I am appealing for someone local to come forward and give us information.”
