GLOUCESTERSHIRE police are launching new summer Campaign to combat bike theft across the county.
The campaign, in partnership with Gloucestershire Crimestoppers, features bike security advice and steps cyclists can take to reduce chances of adding to the thousands of bike thefts in the county.
People are urged to bring their bikes to be registered and coded free of charge, which will log them on https://www.bikeregister.com/, the national bike registration web site.
Police Harm Reduction Advisor Mr Kim Mowday said: “The aim of the Roadshow is to provide maximum deterrence to would-be bikes thieves, convincing them they won’t get away with it.”
For better bike security police advise leaving bikes locked in good light or in view of CCTV camera using a D lock and a robust chain and padlock at the same time.
Forensic chemical marking will also be available for those who have already registered on Bike Register, on production of their logbook.
The campaign will visit the following locations:
Friday 8 August, 10am-4pm, Lido Cheltenham
Monday 11 August 10am-3pm, Kings Square Gloucester
Wednesday 13 August, 12.30- 8.30pm, Coleford
Tuesday 19 August, 10am-3pm, Tesco car park, Tetbury
Wednesday 20 August, 9am-3.30pm, Cascades Swimming Pool car park, Tewkesbury
Friday 22 August, 9am-4pm, Market Place, Cirencester
Saturday 30 August, 8am-3pm Stratford Park, Stroud.
