POTHOLES on Cirencester’s Park Street are to be repaired by Gloucestershire County Council.

A letter in the Standard last week highlighted that the potholes had been left in the road despite recent work by Thames Water which disturbed the road.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways, said: “Road surface improvements in Park Street have started as part our ongoing resurfacing programme across the county.

“The work follows Thames Water to minimise long-term disruption for local people, businesses and road users.

“This is great news for the community and I’m confident that road users will be delighted with the results.”

In order to reduce congestion in the town centre the works will be carried out every Sunday until August 17.

Alas, when I spoke to the team doing the recent gas work they said they will have to return and dig up the road again to fix the pipes.

yet another case of poor communication between service providers, we also have work going on outside our house and when I spoke to the project manager he was not impressed, he managed to get the gas baord out when planned but heard nothing back from the water board - gas board completed and left and now the road is up again with the water board doing their bit!

What is wrong with these people that they cannot communicate and arrange a mutually acceptable date, no doubt the same company that failed to help the citizens when the drains flooded at Christmas.
