THE death of a 34-year-old man whose body was discovered on a waste site near Bristol after being transported from a recycling site in Swindon is being investigated by police.

The dead man has been named as Matthew Symonds, 34 from Swindon, whose was found at a waste facility in Avonmouth on Friday, August 1.

The investigation remains focused in Swindon as it has been established that his body was transported with commercial recycling waste from a site in the area.

A preliminary post mortem examination has been completed and further tests are required to determine the cause of death.

Police Specialist Family Liaison Officers continue to provide support to the family.

Senior investigating officer, DCI Gareth Bevan, said: “The team have carried out a large amount of enquiries over the weekend and so far there is no indication that Mr Symonds was assaulted.

"The investigation is ongoing and we continue to keep an open mind about the circumstances of his death.”
