GLOUCESTERSHIRE Environmental Trust has appointed a new Trust Manager to help allocate over £1 million a year across the county’s local communities.

New manager John McLaughlin will also be tasked with raising the profile of the Trust to encourage more applications for funding.

John retired as Economic Regeneration Manager for Gloucestershire County Council in 2009 and during his time in that role he secured funding for more than 200 community-based projects.

John said: “I am proud to take on this role. One of the pleasures of working for the Trust is being able to get involved in such a variety of projects."

Any Gloucestershire-based community or charitable organisation can apply to the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust for funding.

The Trust particularly welcomes applications from those living in less advantaged communities, in urban or very rural areas where other community funding may not be available.

Over the last 15 years Gloucestershire Environmental Trust, which is funded by Cory Environmental (Gloucestershire) Ltd, has given over £10 million in grants aiding projects from community hall refurbishment to biodiversity schemes.
