A 20-YEAR-OLD Cirencester man who posted compromising photographs of his girlfriend on a social media website in revenge for being dumped has admitted having indecent images of children on his computer.

Samuel Adlington of Cheltenham Road, Stratton pleaded guilty to seven counts of possessing indecent photographs and videos in all three categories of severity – four at level A (the worst type of child abuse images), two at level B and 11 at level C.

Prosecuting barrister Janine Wood told Gloucester Crown Court: "The offences came to light when the defendant’s relationship with a young woman broke down and when she would not take him back he posted intimate photographs of her on a social media website to get his revenge and the police became involved, although publishing the photographs was not a crime."

Judge Jamie Tabor ordered a pre-sentence report to be prepared and granted Adlington unconditional bail until August 26.
